Paruppu Sadam - South indian recipe
Ingredients :
Small onions - 10 ( shallots ,pearl onions peeled and cut into half)
Paruppu sadam |
soak 1 cup of sona masoori rice or basmathi rice
toor dal - 10 tsps
Seasonings :
Cold pressed coconut oil - 5 tsps
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
mustard seeds - 1 tsps
cilantro leaves
Preparation :
In a pressure cooker - add three tea spoons of extra virgin coconut oil
Now add the mustard seeds let it splutter
Add the onions tomatoes green chillies along with red chillies
let the saute until they become translucent, add salt to taste
Add two cups of warm water per cup of rice let the water come to a boil, now add the rice with toor dal
Let them come to a boil, close the pressure cooker lid, let it whistle 3 - 4 times.
Serve it hot with ghee
Variantions : Add Shredded coconut 1 tsp once the cooking is completed.
